In this conversation with Apeike Umolu, historian and diplomat Dr Hilary Beckles discusses the concept of “Global Africa” as an evolution of Pan-Africanism and the historic conference at Durban that caused him to re-think the effectiveness of traditional Pan-African ideals.

This conversation was part of “The Pan-African Pantheon” lecture series hosted by the Institute for Pan-African Thought and Conversation at the University of Johannesburg (https://ipatc.joburg), chaired by Apeike Umolu of the African History Project (https://africanhistoryproject.org).
