Explore Different Areas of History
We have an ambitious public lecture programme that covers topics from across the African experience, on the continent and in the diaspora, over the last 500 years.
We organise our work into a number of topic areas covering everything from African religion to the rise of modern nation states.
The different topic areas exist to ensure that as an institution we are curating conversations that cover the breadth of the African experience. This is in keeping with our commitment to championing conversations that allow for the fullness of the African experience to be explored.
We encourage you to join us for lectures in multiple topic areas. This will allow you to discover new areas of African political and intellectual history that you may not be familiar with. You should also endeavour to attend all of the lectures in a given topic area in an academic year as they are usually part of a theme. This is particularly important is you are thinking of transitioning to the Foundation Certificate.
