Is Pan-Africanism Dead?
Apeike Umolu chairs a panel of contemporary Pan-Africanists from education and the media to discuss the continued relevance of Pan-Africanism.
Hosted by The Africa Centre, London, the panel also addressed how the Centre can continue to play a part in nurturing Pan-African citizenship in the capital.
“As an institution that was home to many African liberation war heroes in the ’60s and ’70s and a place where numerous pan-African conferences took place in the ’80s and ’90s, The Africa Centre feel compelled to continue facilitating dialogue and debate around issues concerning Africa, positive and negative. However, we are painfully aware of what appears to be disillusionment with modern-day Pan-Africanism so we have decided to tackle the matter head-on by addressing questions such as whether or not pan-Africanism is dead.”
